Pale colour. Intense lemon, grapefruit aromas with some underlying spice notes. Generously concentrated, pure and lithe with ample lemon curd/ grapefruit flavours, fine loose knit textures and fresh long crispy acidity. Finishes chalky and minerally with fruity citrus notes. Pale colour. Lifted lime, grapefruit aromas with camomile notes. Supple, almost creamy with ample lime grapefruits, stonefruit flavours, fine loose knit chalky, hint al dente textures, attractive mid-palate viscosity and underlying indelible acidity. Finishes crunchy, a touch grippy and long. Flavourful, sturdy and minerally with a structure that will benefit from cellaring for a few years or more. 12.3% alc Drink 2025 – 2038 94+ points
2022 Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz, Clare Valley – South Australia
Deep crimson. Expressive blackberry, elderberry, black pepper aromas with hints of mocha/ marzipan. Well concentrated, buoyant and elegant with pure blackberry, mulberry fruits, persistent dense gravelly tannins, underlying new oak notes and fresh long juicy acidity. Finishes chocolaty/ grippy firm with aniseed notes. Well-proportioned, rather than voluminous, with very good fruit density and torque. 2021 Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz, Clare Valley – South Australia
Deep crimson. Intense pure blackberry, mocha, dark chocolate aromas, abundant roasted chestnut oak notes and some bush garrigue nuances. Saturated and inky deep with plentiful blackberry pastille, raspberry, dark chocolate, touch black liquorice flavours, brambly textures, superb mid-palate richness/ volume and well-integrated mocha, vanilla, touch roasted chestnut notes. Finishes firm and minerally with persistent blackberry/ raspberry pastille notes. All the elements in balance. An heroic vintage showing all the hallmarks of a great age worthy shiraz.
